Geomatics is the scientific name given to the sciences and technologies related to urban data in its digital form, including urban surveys and spatial information systems. It also includes urban information collection, processing, analysis, display, map formation, measurement and management of urban data. This major is a natural extension of the town planning major. Geomatics specialization includes various techniques for urban-related disciplines such as spatial planning, environmental architecture, architecture, engineering, land and property development, environmental planning and others. Thus, it is essential for all sciences related to urbanism and location, which depend on urban data such as surveying, remote sensing, aerial maps, spatial information systems and GPS systems.
